Happy new year! I know many of you have been waiting for this release, and now it’s finally ready: the Pro version of Dabbleboard. The Pro version includes SSL access, SVG support, permissions control, and much more. See the Pro webpage for the details.
I also know some of you were worried that once a Pro version was made available, we’d turn off or cripple the free version. As we promised, the free version is still just as feature-packed and just as -well- free. And we’ll continue improving both the free and Pro versions further.
You may have also noticed that we dropped our beta label. That doesn’t mean Dabbleboard is finished; there’s plenty of room for improvement. It just means we will never have any excuse like “but it’s just a beta” when it comes to bugs (not that we ever used such an excuse before). We’ll work hard to keep Dabbleboard a reliable, secure and useful tool; our business depends on it.

I like this product _a lot_, but find it almost critically flawed by its weak shape recognition, especially it’s inability to recognize my squares/rectangles (it keeps rendering them as elipses).
It wouldn’t be so bad if in properties, I could then change a mis-recognized shape to whatever I want.
I hope to see this addressed as I would love to use Dabbleboard.
There’s a lot of great work here.

Thanks Peldi!
Jack, regarding shape recognition, we find that it works well for some but poorly for others because of different mouse sensitivity settings, etc. We’re still improving to make it smarter and more robust. In the meantime:
- You may find that you just need a little practice with the system. For rectangles/squares, you only need to draw 2 edges, so you should try to make 2 distinct strokes.
- You can always just use the library pane to save shapes, and then just drag-and-drop from there.

Thanks, Zohair.
The tip about the 2 edges helps a lot!

Hi
Is there a wish list anywhere on the site?
Sorry for posting it here :=(
my list is:
change colour of existing graphics and text
change text size of graphics and text
fill closed polygons
copy the transactions to an ascii file (inc. chat)
allow re-run of (edited) ascii file

amir, we have a forum where you can post these as well. Regarding your list:
- Just select the objects and click one of the color buttons to change color
- Just select the text objects and click one of the text-size buttons to resize text
- We’ve intentionally avoided this because we feel it hurts the user interface without really helping one’s ability to visually communicate. The main problem with the interface is that once you have filled shapes, you’d need to worry about z-alignment with “send to front”/”send to back” buttons.
- The Pro version allows export to SVG files, though it’s just the drawing and not the chat history, and doesn’t allow reopening in Dabbleboard yet.
